Culture Day
We were not seeing a game today so we devoted the time to cultural pursuits. We visited the State History Museum on the recommendation of the volunteer outside that said you could see all of Russian history and a beautiful building. The history stopped about 1900, the photos show the interiors.

Our guide on the free tour had raved about a drink at the cafeteria on the top floor of the GUM building. This is a sort of "Soviet-style" cafeteria. Unfortunately we could not remember the name. We only had a light lunch after our customary pig-out at the free breakfast at the hotel.
We attended the 7:00 pm performance of the opera 'Figaro' at the New Theatre of the Bolshoi. It was, of course, in Italian with surtitles in Russian. The story was adapted to1960's Russia, not Italy as originally written. I bought a program in English but unfortunately the synopsis of the story was not included. Luckily I had my phone and could read it, not that it helped much to follow the goofy plot.
